Color challenge!

Well, maybe not an official color challenge, but a week or so ago my stamping guru, Claudia, posted a color combo with purple & yellow and asked to see what anyone else could come up with on a similar color scheme. I chose these colors & think they make a nice pairing - apricot appeal & rich razzleberry.

I stamped the butterfly & flower image (from Of the Earth set) with apricot appeal and highlighted parts with my razzleberry pen. The background papers are apricot appeal & rich razzleberry dsps. The die layers are made from nestabilities label dies that were a great gift from my sister this Christmas. The sentiment is stamped in razzleberry.

This card now makes me feel a little like spring - eek! TOO early for those thoughts, it's still January! Oh well, we can all dream... Enjoy!

Ready for Valentines Day!

Enjoyed making Valentine's this year. Helped that I planned ahead and I participated in a card swap in January that made it imperative to make a bunch at once. Of course there are always those few last minute cards...so if you're still needing some ideas for this year, these little folding cards are perfect to stash a gift card or secret love note.

I took a 8.5x5.5in piece of white card stock & scored & folded at 2.25 X 6 (approximately). Secured the inside flap to base just at the edges for a slot for a gift card or note. After decorating, adhered velcro for a resealable closure. Velcro makes a great fastener for cards like these (found thin velcro dots in the sewing section at my local big-box store).

Simple, eh? Whisper white & melon mambo for colors, and used the new SU! Pinking Hearts border punch & Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit die, with just a bit of white organza ribbon or some dsp for a decorative stripe. Couldn't have been easier.

Super simple with 2 colors & style is easy to change to suit any occasion.

Embosslits are great, by the way. The little folder makes it easy to cut embossed shapes with NO marring of the cutting plate for my diecut tool (I use a Cuttlebug). Hope you will be feelin' some love this Valentines Day!

Sneak peek at a Valentine from me....

This card was fun to make! A road map makes a nice background for the truck stamp, and the little cartoon image of the woman & dog, well that looks just like me in my truck (I'd never let my dog ride in the bed though, but he looks cute there on this card, doesn't he?)!

The sentiment on the card is from the Service & Sacrifice stamp set. This card doesn't have to be a Valentine at all, so I'm getting ready to make several cards with similar sentiments to send to the good folks at Operation Write Home to send to our nation's armed forces overseas. Gloomy weather is crafting weather...

Gray & dreary inside means some time to spend in craft room. Here's a couple cards... I think I'm done making valentines - finally planned ahead in time. Here's one I'm happy with. Love the Fifth Avenue Floral rose and little leaves, a perfect combo. The sentiment is from SU Holiday Best hostess set. My husband really would have liked to have been on a snowboard trip for his birthday earlier this month, but this Extreme Snowboard card is as close as he got... maybe next year.

Can you guess...

what inspired this card? Okay, so our dog is housebroken & reliable at home 98% of the time... but while travelling to see family, let's just say he left a "mark" on my mother-in-law's dining room carpet. The in-laws have 3 tiny dogs, so they were very understanding... but still, had to make this card to say we're sorry!

January- month of birthdays!

Happy New Year! Also Happy Birthday to the many friends & relatives I find celebrating birthdays this month! Snow everywhere inspires this card - a little shimmer added to give it frosty touch and I added snow on trees & in the sky using white signo gel pen. Still love the Lovely as a Tree stamp set. Enjoy!
