Simply Thanks (for stopping by my blog)

Name that shape! SU! fans take a look... Can you tell what I used to make the shape framing the Simply Thanks sentiment? Need a hint? It is from an SU exclusive die...

Before the answer, let me point out that I used 2 new colors, Marina Mist & Daffodil Delight, for the butterflies & background layers. We don't have ink in these colors yet, so I used bashful blue & so saffron ink for the tiny flowers on the sentiment background (the tiny flowers are from the Itty Bitty Bits set from the Summer Occasions Mini catalog).

I am anxious to see the rest of the coordinating products later this summer for these colors. These 2 colors are what I call a "back to basics" yellow & blue that should go well with lots of things. Now, for the answer....

Answer for the shape I used for my frame is from what is left when you use the Lattice die! I cut many of these lattice shapes in black to adhere to some of my favorite color 12x12 cardstock that are in scrapbook page frames to create some decor for my craft room & before throwing the remaining paper away, I realized it left a nice shape that I could re-use. I don't have these frames on the wall yet, but here's a picture of what one looks like.

Reduce, Re-use, Re-cycle! Papercrafters are great recyclers! Hope you have fun with your new colors & find new ways to use things before they hit the recycle bin! TGIF! Have a great weekend!

New SU items on the way...

Rough Type is a new alphabet set that will be available in the Summer Mini-Catalog. It caught my interest right away as an alphabet stamp set in clear mount rubber seems like a great idea. Easy to manipulate the little letters. This card I've made to send my sister (hard to guess, wasn't it?!). I punched out the letters with a small circle punch to make it even easier... the little heart next to "MY" is from the Itty Bitty Bits set. That set will also be fun to play with as the tiny images work great for the small Simply Adorned charms. I'm unlikely to get much posted now before May, as I have an exam for work that I must study for.... Look forward to playing more after that!

"Freebird" .... PPA36 Color Challenge card

Ever have someone do you a great favor? This Thank You card I made was inspired by that theme. I also like how it seems to suggest a little story...

Used sentiment & bird cage image from Happy Moments sale-a-bration stamp set and paper pieced bird from the Flower for All Seasons stamp set (bird from the tulip basket stamp). Hardest part was masking the bird image for an empty birdcage on the last image (I used a stampin'write marker to color all but the bird). The lines aren't perfect so don't look too hard! :)

I stamped the other Flower for All Seasons bird image a few times on the light yellow cardstock and then cut out the bird shapes, including some extra wings, etc so I had lots of different images of the bird standing or in flight.

The color combo for this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge...highlighting color combo of lavender lace, barely banana & certainly celery. Thanks for looking!
