Weekend Challenges

Whew!  This was a busy weekend of both the normal routine chores & yard work & LOTS of card making... Inspired by several challenges I was able to get quite a number of cards completed for Operation Write Home.   The first card above was by far the hardest... SQSC#1, Stampin' Queen's first sketch challenge!  This stumped me for long awhile, especially with the square/circle combo...

Here's the sketch:

I had several attempts getting a card I liked completed for the sketch. To help me out, I chose to modify a card I made earlier (see it here) and transformed it to match the sketch.  Maybe the hardest part is lining up 3 evenly spaces pieces of paper (you can see where some card surgery was required on the top & bottom parts of my paper!).  For the card I used Stampin Up!'s Delicate Doilies and Flores perforables stamp sets.  The colors I used are Calypso Coral, Pool Party & Crumb Cake.  Well, it's still a cute sketch, so to share,  here is one of my practice cards I used to create a Miss You card for a box of cards I'll be sending to Operation Write Home...

The cute fox stamp is from Fox & Friends and the sentiment is from Three Little Words (the first word was cut off to fit nicely in the circle).

And lastly, I was up at 4am (yes, another minor touch of insomnia maybe, but when you're inspired to make something, does it matter what time it is!?), so I had plenty of time to get an Any Hero Thanksgiving card made for Operation Write Home...

I love the Loads of Love stamp set used here... I actually had the truck & pumpkins already stamped, so it was ready to go as soon as I found some matching papers to color everything just so...

My OWH box is brimming with Miss You, Love You and general cards, but I also have a nice collection of Christmas cards I'll be sending to be sure they are ready in plenty of time to send to the troops... here's one I made using the new Stocking Builder punch that will be available in September...

I added some flocking powder to the white parts of the stocking including the little heart.  The sentiment is from Contempo Christmas stamp set, and my background paper I printed using MDS.  I told you I was busy this weekend!  :)

Check out all the fun challenges from the links above & GET STAMPING NOW!  :)
