Bee Awesome!

Giving a big shout out to my nephew who won his middle school's spelling bee competition.
Congratulations, David!

He won competing against kids that included two grades above his current level, so he's sure to be on cloud nine.  He now gets to prepare for further competition against other schools' spelling bee champions and I wish him all kinds of luck.  I'll have to prepare more cards of this nature for him in the future, I'm sure.

Now that you know the occasion, I think the little Quickutz bee I used on this card may make more sense, eh?

I better recheck my spelling in my blog now... if he's ever to check this, I'm sure I'll hear about anything I've misspelled!

Oh, Hello, Valentine!

New toys arrived in the mail today!  Hooray!
This was a fun, quick card I made to add to my stash of Valentine greetings.  I used Stampin' Up's new set, "Oh, Hello."  The patterned oval made a nice background stamp for my punched hearts.  I pierced holes in the hearts for a little added interest. The piercing was a great way to thread a little bit of white twine onto one of the hearts to add a simple bow to the front.

Here's a view of the images in the stamp set:

Have a great day, everyone.  Happy Stamping!

Make It Monday #100 - Over Size Me!

This week the Make It Monday Challenge is a milestone, #100, so I'm sure this challenge will draw a lot of attention!  This challenge was a good one for me as it let me do the one thing I often avoid, creating a card with an element that expands past the size of the front and with more bulk than usually fits in a regular A2 size envelope.  I love embellishments, and I have a great stash of them, but too often they go unused (sorry, my little button stash, for ignoring you far too long!).

I chose a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Heart Prints Sentiments, and PTI Happy Spots paper for my Dark Chocolate (PTI) and pink (SU! Blushing Bride) card.  The sentiment I selected especially for the addition of the cute little trinket key.  I attached the little key by piercing a couple holes in the top layer heart and tied it securely with some floss, hiding most of the thread on the back side of the heart.

I decorated my over sized envelope that can accommodate my card by simply stamping a little flourish in coordinating Blushing Bride ink.

This was a fun paper craft challenge.  Hope you have a chance to play, too!  Have a great weekend.

Getting My Ducks in a Row... Make It Monday #99

Well, blogger may be having a little bit of photo upload issues, but had to share this here, too (I posted this on my Splitcoast Gallery for the challenge so just copied it here).
Make It Monday #99 challenge this week is "Repeats and Rainbows."  This is a great cheerful way to create a clean and simple card.  I chose to use the #3 rainbow color scheme on the samples and Papertrey Ink's On the Farm stamp set and coordinating dies.  I think I got all my ducks in a row okay, not bad for a 3am inspiration!  ZzzZzzz... Ah, my insomnia has its benefits some times!
Enjoy & happy stamping!
