Awesome in Black & White...

Pulled out this fun art stamp I have to play with a super simple black & white design.  I had to make something like this since I was inspired in my research for the past week's Trendy Tuesday post for Paper Crafter's Library.

The funny people make me smile.  I stamped the image an extra time and hand cut one of the faces to stand out just a bit more.  This was difficult card to photograph, for me at least, but check it out,,,

FYI, the sentiment stamp I used is from Stampin' Up! set Yippee Skippee, and the people are from this stamp called Face It!

Oh, and if you are a PCL Blog follower, my card also gives you a little sneak peek at next week's Trendy Tuesday theme...hmmmm... do you know what it could be??  :)  Stay tuned!

Sad Santa... Merry Monday #72

Playing along with Merry Monday again.  It's just too hot outside, so why not try to think of cool weather and make a dent in your Christmas card stash!?

For my card I chose to turn the sketch on it's side.  The Santa Claus image from the new My Minds Eye Vintage Christmas paper pack was SO very serious I had to lighten him up a bit and best way to do that was to add the funny sentiment stamp from Unity Stamp Company.  I stamped some holly from Stampin Up! set, Bells & Boughs, and added a little twine and tiny jingle bell for a little something something...

Here's the sketch by the way...

Stay cool and keep on crafting.
Have a terrific weekend!

One kind word...

Playing along with Unity's Friday Friends with Flair as it's just so much fun to share whatever Unity Stamp project you've created with a bunch of other Unity stamp fans.   Felt a need to put a little chill in the air while enduring some of the hottest temps we've had this summer.  There's lots of Christmas release chatter in the crafting world lately which makes me really long for cooler weather... I think I've got quite a wait for that yet, so this chilly weather card will just have to do for now.

Here are the nitty gritty supply details:
The image is from Unity Stamp Co, One of a Kind Winter, patterned paper from Recollections, card stock, ribbon, and pierced label from my Stampin' Up supplies, snowflake dies from My Favorite Things, Memento Espresso Truffle Ink, & Copic markers for a little color on the snowman.

My kinda "Happy Hour"....

Ice cream lovers, unite!
Here we are in the heat of August and while it's super hot outside, nothing better can cool you down than some delicious ice cream.

I'm fairly sure fans of this awesome treat will agree with me that you can never have "too much" ice cream!  Well, I guess that's not entirely true now that I'm at that wonderful age where there can be too much of a good thing (darn calories), but I have wonderful childhood memories of feeling that I could consume an endless bowl of ice cream and never regret it.  I was really lucky that ice cream was a staple in the house where I was raised, thanks to my dad that shared the addiction, and he would never turn down one of my overfilled bowls of delicious scoops!

The crafty deets:  The phrase and stamp I used on my project  is from My Favorite Things.  The ice cream dies are from Papertrey Ink and the ribbons, patterned paper and embossing folder I used on my ice cream cone is from Stampin' Up!

Summer is winding down, but that doesn't mean it's time to stop stocking the freezer with the good stuff!
Enjoy, and happy crafting.

Lucky Dog

Oh how I adore this sweet little dog... it's a digital freebie from The Alley Way Stamps.
Thank you, Leanne Pugliese, for tipping me off to their wonderful images!  I'm completely hooked.
I printed the dog along with some sentiments I created on my computer for an upcoming retirement (I used the Good Dog font, if you're curious; you can find lots of playful FREE fonts at this site).

I colored the dog, just slightly, and added a little "wag" to his tail.  Picked out some cheerful colors from the My Mind's Eye patterned paper and an embossing folder to match.  The little dog bone quicklet is a must have embellishment for any doggie card, too!

Thanks for stopping by, happy crafting!

Be Inspired - TAWS 35

Playing along with the TAWS challenge for the first time.
Inspiration challenges are... challenging for me.  I look for something specific about the inspiration photo that catches my eye and that usually sets the wheels in motion for a project.  For this challenge photo, I couldn't take my eyes off that bold black and white calendar.  But what in the world could I make that had such bold numbers?  No one I know is celebrating a specifc year of birth or anniversary?  A quick look at the few The Alley Way Stamps in my possession, and no way I could ignore it.... yep, it's time to make a Halloween card!  Here's what I came up with:

After I established the bold black & white "31" was the key to my project I decided to just try and mirror the basic layout of the photo for the rest.  A somewhat "literal" translation of the inspiration photo was a challenge in its own way.

I added bit of white space, a black stripe (somewhat like where the boots are sitting in the photo), and some stamped stripes mimicking the lines on the floor.  Just a few spooky, cute images from the Bumps in the Night stamp set on front, with the funniest phrase I've seen for Halloween hiding on the inside of the card...

Bwa ha ha ha ha!
I love these funny stamps.  I told myself last year that I had "enough" Halloween stamps in my possession.  Yeah right.  As soon as I saw this one I had to have it!  Thanks for the inspiration TAWS challenge team!

Go Nuts!

Playing with some new toys this weekend, the new Nuts For You set from Papertrey Ink and the matching dies.  We have a lot of cute little red squirrels around our woods so I'm certain to use this cute little critter in lots of projects inspired by the old homestead.  I didn't want too many layers with the sentiments and all the die cut elements, so I found a way to add the "go nuts" phrase via a little punched out window at the top.  The birthday sentiment I stamped directly on the lower layer of naturals ivory cardstock (that sentiment comes from Lawn Fawn).  PTI Canyon Clay cardstock & twill ribbon matched the coloring I created on my squirrel.  I just got lucky there as my coloring skills are definitely a work in progress!

Enjoy & happy stamping!

Going Digital

This week's Trendy Tuesday post is all about Digital Scrapbooking, Designs & Projects.
I created a digital album for my anniversary this year and shared it via an SD card on our tv.  Here are a couple of the pages I made using the Stampin' Up! digital kit, Fan Fair.

Enjoy the post over at PCL and check out the links as I found a lot of fun stuff & freebies!

Colorful Sunday with Mama Elephant Stamps

This has been a playful, crafty Sunday... Spent some quality craft time with some new markers and some new stamps from Mama Elephant.  I just think these little creatures from the Up & Away set are so sweet.  They coordinate well with lots of sayings including the fun sentiments from Hustle, that I used in this next card...

I created a rainbow of colors with my markers on a plain scrap of white cardstock then stamped the sentiment on top, and hand cut the rainbow banner.  I popped up the banner on some dimensional adhesive and then lightly coated it with some Glitter Glaze from My Favorite Things.  That part may be hard to see, so here is a close up...

Hope you had a marvelous weekend!  Happy crafting, everyone.

Super Lazy Saturday...

Oh yeah... Happy Weekend, everyone!

I was shopping for funny phrases for cards and this Funny Bones sentiment stood out as something that could apply to me, and apply often.  It's great to find a Riley Moose image that matches so well with the funny statement. I'll admit I wasn't SUPER lazy today, as I did a lot before lunch, but since I fell asleep on the couch after my midday meal, I think it applies to me now.

I wanted to participate in the Spots, Dots and Circles challenge over at Riley & Co. and found that I had some dotted paper in my scrap bin and hadn't yet inked up one of my Mama Elephant background stamps. I've also been slowly learning how to use my Copic markers and am finally satisfied with how Riley turned out this time.

Enjoy some lazy time if you can today!

One of Those Days...Friends with Flair

By far this week has been just one day after the other that made me feel a bit like this...

This is a really great set from Unity Stamp Company to share with friends who are feeling the same way.  I'm sharing my card today to celebrate with Friends with Flair for Unity .  Also wanted to send a shout out to the wonderful folks at Unity that continually, happily tempt me with fun offers and sales & were terrific and quick about getting a stamp replacement sent to me (I was not solicited to say any of these things, I'm totally just a big fan and they keep giving me reasons to keep sharing those thoughts!).

TGIF, everyone!  I'm breaking out my alcohol related stamps for my crafting Happy Hour tonight & will share those next week!   Nothing beats craft therapy!
