Let's Hear It For the Boys!

I really enjoyed having a small holiday party with some friends this week and must share at least one of the things we made.  Gift cards end up as a "go to" gift for many a man, so this little gift card holder should come in really handy!  I loved putting the MFT paper doll die on the card highlighting the boy in gold and adding the arrow too (ya know, have to make it super obvious, right!) ;)

I also have some masculine birthdays in the family coming up... MFT stamps coming in handy again with this simple graphic sentiment.  The watercolored/drippy background effect on this card was used with some Faber Castell gelatos.  Proud to show my sister that I really did use the gelatos she got me for my birthday (finally!).  This background has been waiting around a LONG time for JUST the right card!

Happy crafting everyone!

Chez Geek

Just sharing a view of some bookcase decorations... I posed these little action figures and fall scenery before Halloween for seasonal decor, but I've kept them up through November too... Pretty sure they'll be replaced entirely for Christmas as while I can "pretend" orcs and LOTR heroes can come together for a lovely Thanksgiving meal, putting that ensemble together for Christmas just feels... wrong... hee hee....

Just a view from "Chez Geek" - a/k/a home...
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving

So late last night I realized I forgot to prepare my Thanksgiving cards!  This meant crunch time.  I don't like rushing things, but that often makes for some fun speed crafting, so away I went to comb through my stash to see what to use this year.  Happily, found that the curvy frame stamp from Everything More  and Happy Thanksgiving sentiment from Unity Stamp Company fit beautifully!  Had this retired Stampin' Up! paper "saved" for this time of year, so some quick cutting, a little fussy cutting, and done and done!

I'm updating my post to share with my other Unity Stamp Co. pals with Friends with Flair.  I'm so grateful to get to see all the wonderful cards they create.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday next week!  Like the card says, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

HEY! UPDATED to share I was honored to get a random prize with my entry at Unity! MORE things to be thankful for, LOVE that!

Great Love

A quick fall post today...
Had an opportunity to make a series of encouragement cards for a friend and picked out one of my favorites to share with you.  Don't you love it when the simplest of cards becomes a favorite?  Some days I can spend hours trying to come up with something I like, then there are days when I realize keeping things simple is often the best.

A Unity Stamp Company sentiment was all I needed to stamp & color, then cut out with a Spellbinders die.  I sponged the edges a bit, and layered on some pretty patterned paper (paper from FarmHouse I believe) and embellished with some Stampin' Up! crochet lace ribbon.

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!  Until next time, happy crafting!

Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I went super simple with this card using some stickers and washi tape.  Oh yeah, easy peasy.  The B for Boo sticker from Graphic 45 was layered on a bit of green cardstock to add a little extra color.  The dimensional mummy sticker is from Recollections, and skull and crossbones washi tape is from Stampin' Up!

Enjoy some candy, and maybe just a little bit more crafting time before the little ones come knocking on your door.  Have a great day!

Monster Hugs!

Too cute to spook, aren't they?

Lawn Fawn Monster Mash stamp set is great for Halloween or any occasion.
I stamped my monsters in different colors to match my patterned paper (it's a scrap, so not sure which brand it is).  I made the green guy a white eye to stand out just a little more.  A googly eye would be great on him, too, but this card needed to fit nicely in an envelope and I didn't want to risk the eye falling off!

A little twine threaded through my label looks like it is holding it on, but of course it's just decorative.  Gotta love a little embellishment!
Hope everyone is ready for a fun weekend!
Happy crafting, everyone.

Feelin' Squirrel-y...

This is a squirrel-y time of year... love seeing the little critters all over the yard burying their acorn treasures.
I used Papertrey Ink stamp, Nuts For You, and carefully recreated the squirrel image in reverse with a pen to create this card.  A little washi tape, short sentiment from TAWS and top note die from SU!

Simple, easy, lots more fun than raking leaves... Have a fun fall weekend, everyone!

Snacks for Watching The Walking Dead - Zombie Cookies!

Attention crafters and zombie fans...
Gingerbread man cookie cutter is not just for Christmas anymore!

Must admit I am a fan of the AMC show The Walking Dead.
The first episode of this season had as close of a "happy ending" as that show may ever get.  Most of the favorite characters are united and out of immediate danger (for now).  Whew!
Since this season's opener was SO terrific, I have a hard time deciding if I'll keep watching, but it'll be hard to resist.  To celebrate the show, I just had to make some fun treats for my mother-in-law. She's a big fan as well and I love that we have this fan-dom in common.

The key to zombie gray-green icing is this food coloring combo:
one drop red, one drop blue, one drop green.
A little bit more green gives a fresher "dead" look, like I added to these little cookies...

Red gel food coloring can be added on top of the icing, using a toothpick to paint on a face or little gory details.  I made a few more gray, decaying zombies and zombie parts and added them to the bag as well, but kept the "fresher" zombies peering out the semi transparent bag.

Silly me, it's hard to post photos of some of my most icky zombies, even though they are just cookies, but...eeek!  This one I decided is approved for all audiences though..

This is a good month to work on these kind of treats since they would be great for Halloween too!
Happy crafting everyone!

Cherished Memories

Sharing for Friends with Flair day for Unity Stamp Company.
Made this as a gift.  I loved how it turned out, so while it's not yet sent to its intended, I've enjoyed looking at it.  Love how this Phyllis Harris stamp, Easier with You By My Side,  is so "suitable for framing."  Unity has so many stamps like that- brings out the artist in us all.   Here's a close up...

More details:  I painted a plain wood frame and added a little embellishment to complete my DIY gift.  I masked the image after it was stamped and sponged ink for the sky and ground.  Used a retired SU! sentiment and Copic markers for coloring.

TGIF, friends!

Be your own Super Hero!

Long live Girl Power!
Using Diana Girl from Unity Stamp Company and some graphic background stamps from Off the Grid from Stampin' Up! for today's empowerment card.   Inside I added the sentiment "You are your own Super Hero" as I hope that helps a friend make it through something new and sometimes difficult.

Sharing with my Unity Friday Friends with Flair, also.  I so miss playing along on other challenges, but my "super powers" apparently do not include multi-tasking very well...darn it!  :)

Felt Flowers Never Wilt

I love it when you get to hand someone their birthday card.  Since it doesn't have to be hidden away, and fit all nice and tidy into an envelope, the embellishments can be big and dimensional.  My husband's grandma's birthday was the perfect opportunity for me to create a card that went BIG with a pretty, felt embellishment. I got to use my long neglected Heirloom Rose Die-Namic from My Favorite Things with some of their quality wool felt.  To be sure I got it right, I watched the MFT Youtube video that helps show how to assemble it correctly.   Felt is really rewarding to work with. Here's a close up look...

The leaves were cut from cardstock using Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves die, the patterned paper is from Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment and other Naturals White and Rose Red card stock are from Stampin' Up!.

She really loved it (almost as I loved making it for her).  Today is her birthday, so I thought it's a great day to share it with you.
Happy crafting, everyone!

Dog Days of Summer...

Summer time heat and humidity are back after what was an amazing, low humidity, breezy holiday weekend.  Outdoor heat makes indoor hobbies even more attractive, so I expect to get a chance to catch up on a few card making needs this week!

My card above was for an anniversary.  I loved using my Lifestyle Crafts/Quickutz dog dies and giving the card a little Lady & the Tramp kind of treatment.  A little Stampin' Up! twine, Lawn Fawn patterned paper and a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp made the rest of the card easy to put together.  Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a Happy Day, too!

Caffeine Withdrawal - Unity Friends with Flair

Oh yes, the words on this card express my feelings when this happens...
I LOVE coffee.  I have tried to cut back, and when I do I am so very sad...

Sharing my creation for this week's Unity Stamp Company's Friends with Flair.
Love this Unity Stamp Company Itty Bitty, So Empty Coffee.

Here is a close up of the card showing off some accents I included using some Glossy Accents on the coffee pot and some sparkles with a glitter pen.

May your weekend be filled with some caffeinated goodness!
Happy crafting!

Monday UPDATE:  I'm so excited!  My card above was randomly chosen for a prize! YIPPEE

Fist Pumpin' for All Graduates!

Graduation season is upon us so I thought I'd share a clean and simple card I made for a friend.
I used stamps from Mama Elephant, Up and Away, and Hustle. I hand cut a little graduation cap and diploma for the little fist pumpin' fox.  Isn't he sweet?  A little bit of twine was secured through the top of the hat and secured with a dab of glue to keep it secure. Here's a closer look at my foxy little graduate...

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

If you want a rainbow...

April showers should have brought May flowers, right?  Instead I think all I'm getting are allergies.... sigh.
I know if you are a paper crafter and you find yourself stuck inside on a rainy day, then you won't be too sad about it, will you?  It's a perfect chance to stay inside and create something.

A little watercolor effect seemed to go very well with my rainbow sentiment.  I adhered an embossed vellum layer to my card front to coordinate with the other hexagon layers (Stampin' Up! hexagon embossing folder and My Favorite Things hexagon stax dies used here).  Three little sequins decorate one corner...ah now I only have 2307 sequins left to use!!! hee hee hee....enjoy & have a great weekend, no matter the weather!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday!!!
Yippee!!!
Lawn Fawn stamps, dies and paper were used on my card above to celebrate my big day.
I'm off to celebrate, so no time to say much.  Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, ENJOY!

Birthday Week!

Oh how I love APRIL!
I may be getting older, but I'm at least trying to be happy about it.
The Unity Stamp Company birthday stamp set I used on this card is the perfect fit for my ever growing amount of candles.  But make no mistake, it's PIE time for me, that's my favorite so that's what I'll be making for my special day later this week.  Stay tuned, I'll share more birthday cards in future posts.  Have a terrific day, everyone!

Happy Easter - plus BONUS Washi Tape Easter Egg Tip!

Sharing one of my favorite Easter cards I made this year with you today.
The Inkadinkado bunny stamp was a gift from my sister years ago and I still love it.  My Favorite Things Blueprints Die-namics and MFT flower dies (oh how I love their felt, too!) came in very handy to pull together some well cut layers and embellishments.  Lawn Fawn patterned paper gave my card an extra floral touch for this spring holiday.

And here is my favorite Easter tip... Washi tape makes a perfect egg holder when you are decorating your Easter eggs!   The slick tape doesn't appear to absorb or get stained with dye, although I cautiously tried to pair my eggs with a closely matching tape, just in case!

Have a beautiful holiday everyone!

BE Inspired Challenge #50

Playing along with the BE Inspired Challenge from The Alley Way Stamps this weekend.
Spring is in the air!  Finally!  Here was the inspiration photo for my card...

For my TAWS inspired spring card, I used a cute little bird stamp from Lighter than Air and sentiment from Give Thanks.  The bicycle was cut using My Favorite Things Die-namic.  I added some girlie touches with a little ribbon, a doily and paper flowers on the wheels.  Papers, cardstock, ribbon and decorative shaped die are from Stampin' Up!

I enjoyed seeing the bicycle inspiration challenge as our biking season has begun here in Missouri.  It's still cold when I go for a ride with my husband in the early morning, but it warms quickly, which is much better than the 20 degree type rides we were attemping in January that NEVER got warmer!

Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

Don't forget to wear something green.

Details anyone?  Quickutz dog die, Lawn Fawn patterned paper, Stampin' Up! heart & sentiment stamps, SU! cardstock, speech bubble and border dies, and SU! Old Olive grograin ribbon.

Celebrate! MFTWSC167

I posted a card I made for fun earlier and if you bothered to read the tiny details, I mentioned the five sequins I used today out of my stash of THOUSANDS!  Well, here's a view of the other two sequins in action!
I loved seeing the simple sketch challenge over at the My Favorite Things blog
Simple sketches are right up my alley, and the angled strip on the sketch blends in so well with my last Trendy Tuesday article I wrote for the Paper Crafter's Library!

Here a the short deets for my card:
My Favorite Things die cut on a line word, from LLD Accent It Die-namics, Stampin' Up! patterned paper and cardstock, Mama Elephant scalloped rectangle die.

I'll Drink to That!

Ah, I love weekends.
Had a chance to enjoy some spring weather yesterday and take the first spring season bike ride.  Then i worked my tail off to get all my chores done so today could be totally "my day" of whatever I wanted to do.
So, I've gotten a chance to play a lot today and this was something I made just for the fun of it.
Happy weekend, everyone!

Deets for my card:  My Favorite Things stamp set, Martinis on Me, colored with Copic markers, Sakura gel/glitter pen for some bling effects on her dress and headband, Stampin' Up patterned paper and cardstock, and a few sequins... (hooray, I used five sequins today, so only 2079 left to use!!!).  :)

Reboot!

I am a geek.  No denying it.  It is not a surprise to people who may know me, but it's good to come clean on my blog once in awhile.  I just felt a need to share as I think I'll be making a lot of robot cards for awhile, so better get used to it if you're visiting my site over the next month or so.

For my "get well" theme card above, I used  the robot image from The Alley Way Stamps set Lighter than Air and gave him a new face using one of the silly faces from Face It.  I love the silly faces in that set!  I made up the phrase for my card with some help from my geek loving husband.

This card also gave me an excuse to break out a few trendy enamel dots from My Minds Eye.
Those trendy tidbits are just too hard to resist trying!

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderfully crafty day!

100 Shades of Green - Newtons Nook Inky Paws Challenge #7

Forget 50 Shades of Gray, there are hundreds of shades of GREEN, or so I found in my paper stash when I decided to join a fun challenge over at Newtons Nook Designs!

I discovered Newtons Nook in my weekly hunt for inspiration preparing new articles for Paper Crafters Library.  Their images are super cute and love that I could pick up this little Freebie from their blog to play along.  Thanks Newtons Nook!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Deets for my card:  digital stamp from Newtons Nook  colored with Copic and Prisma markers, retired Stampin' Up! DSP & Mellow Moss card base, Pool Party blue card stock accent and Boho Blossoms punched mini flower, Lawn Fawn sequins for my layered flower center secured with mini brad, and Wiltons Cake (yeah, the food type) doily.

Hang in there...

Love this stamp... an itty bitty, itty bitty stamp from Unity Stamp Co.
Getting several requests and feelin' the need to spread some good will with cards lately.  I think this little panda will help turn a few frowns upside down, don't you?

Happy Valentines Day!

Unity Stamp Company Panda Balloon stamp is very cute.  A wanted the little panda to hold a heart shape balloon for today's holiday, so I covered up the tiny panda balloon with a die cut heart.  The heart is covered with a little bit of shiny glitter glaze, can you see it?  It's hard to photograph.  I'm hoping it finds some love on the Unity Stamp blog Friday Friends with Flair since I've missed having a time to create or post much until this week.

I'm really lovin' Stampin Up! Word Bubbles dies & matching stamp set, Just Sayin' and the Bo-Bunny patterned paper I had in my stash made it super easy to make a relatively quick Valentine.... kinda sorta... I'm still crafting late, late, late at night.... It's hard to say how quickly I'm working when I get super tired, but MUST carry on crafting... I must!  :)

Have a loving, fun, chocolate filled day!

Cute Little Snow Monsters

My little Yeti couple comes courtesy of stamps from Lawn Fawn with just tiny colored and drawn in alterations to customize the cute little monster image into a girl and boy holding hands on my card.  It's been a super cold and snowy winter so far, so a snow lovin' couple makes a great pair to decorate a Valentine greeting this year.  A few punched shapes carefully glued in place were quick and easy ways to embellish my card.  Hope you're having fun preparing Valentines for your loved ones whatever the weather may be.
Enjoy!

Pretty Doily makes for a Pretty Valentine

I'm not a very girlie girl, but I cannot resist playing with doilies on some of my traditional Valentines this year.  I wrote an article about some of the prettiest examplesI've seen on many trendy projects for Paper Crafter's Library this week and just had to create a project of my own to share with you.

For my card above, I pulled out a pre-made doily.  What I have on hand is just some ones I found at the grocery store that are really intended for food, but on a card, I think that's just fine, too!   The penguin from Purple Onion Designs is super cute... and the new Stampin' Up Word Bubbles dies and matching sentiment set pulled it all together.

I made another version of this card that is just slightly less girlie... No doily and with a blue color scheme.  Not intended, but I guess seeing the two together, I have a his & hers set!  For the blue version I couldn't resist a few sequins...check it out:

Have a very Happy Valentines Day and hope to see your projects posted soon, too!

BRRR!!!

I am not the only one that thinks that this has been a very long winter, already, am I?
We made it through January at least... and we haven't run out of hot cocoa (a must have this time of year)!
I needed to make a few pick-me-up cards lately, so the winter weather inspired me to make this one using a cute snowman from Paper Smooches and sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

Easy, peasy card with just a little color on the snowman, and a quick snowflake punch embellishment.  Stampin' Up! DSP and cardstock, in cheerful colors, island indigo and tangerine tango, help make this winter greeting a little brighter than the grey skies I see out my window...

Stay warm and enjoy some indoor crafting time.

Love my craft buddy!
